On August 26, 2019, Smart China Expo 2019 was held in Chongqing. Chairman Peng Chun attended the Expo and spoke at the Forum on Intelligent Industry and Cross-border Investment.

Chairman Peng said that the new round of technological and industrial revolutions are gaining momentum. The new-generation information technologies including the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence are undergoing profound changes and have become key drivers for the development of emerging industries and transformation of traditional ones. Interacting the digital economy with the real economy and creating new industries and new industrial trends are the common tasks faced by countries and the inherent premise for high-quality development of the Chinese economy.

On investment in the intelligent industry, Chairman Peng said that the intelligent industry has become one of the most favored areas for global cross-border investment. In recent years, CIC has been closely following investment opportunities created by the rapid development of the intelligent industry. We actively develop new ways for outbound investment, and launch new bilateral funds on commercial basis with investment institutions in countries like the US, Japan, and France based on interest alignment and complementarity to motivate enterprises of both sides to deepen bilateral investment cooperation. We have successfully held international events including CIC Forum and business summits, seeking to build a multi-dimensional cross-border investment ecological system and form new platforms for enterprises from home and abroad to conduct two-way cross-border investments.

Chairman Peng also said that Chongqing, a city of innovation led by big data and intelligent technology, has become the high ground for opening up in inland China. The prospects and potential for cooperation between CIC and Chongqing are significant.
