On December 2, 2020, the 6^th round of Sino-Japanese Entrepreneurs and Former High-level Officials Dialogue was held via video link. The two sides had candid conversations surrounding the economic development status quo of China and Japan and prospects for bilateral economic cooperation in the post-pandemic era. More than 30 representative from both sides attended the dialogue including Chairman Zeng Peiyan of China Center for International Economic Exchanges, former Prime Minister of Japan Yasuo Fukuda, and business leaders, former high-level officials and renowned scholars. Ju Weimin, Vice Chairman and President of CIC also attended and spoke at the dialogue.

President Ju observed that CIC took active steps to address the challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic rarely seen in a century and strived to minimize the shocks of market volatilities and uncertainties. We remain convicted that only by sticking to the philosophies of long-term, value-driven and responsible investing can we remain consistent and seek opportunities to withstand the tests of the market in conjunction with our partners.

President Ju also said that in line with the aforementioned philosophies, CIC overcame the difficulties brought by the pandemic in conjunction with its Japanese counterparts and successfully established the China-Japan Industrial Cooperation Fund. As of now, the fund has finished the first round of financing and moving towards closing the first deal. The progress we have made shows the confidence and determination of all parties involved. Looking forward, CIC will continue to fully tape into its role as a platform for global investment, deepen cooperation with its Japanese partners and join hands to address various challenges, so as to constantly inject vigor into the two countries’ economic and trade development on win-win basis.

The Sino-Japanese Entrepreneurs and Former High-level Officials Dialogue is co-sponsored by China Center for International Economic Exchanges and Japan Business Federation. It was launched in November 2015 in Tokyo, and five rounds were held in Tokyo and Beijing. CIC has been an active participant in its events.
